New 2023 Mazda CX-30 Release Date, Dimensions, Changes – The New 2023 Mazda CX-30 made waves in the US one year after it was released. The CX-3 and CX-5 were the gaps that they filled. This crossover offers more space and functionality than its smaller sibling while keeping its subcompact classification. Its spacious cabin and extended list features stand out against the Subaru Crosstrek and Ford EcoSport.
All of this at a very affordable price. The 2023 CX-30, despite losing some customers to turbo-powered competitors last year, now features a 2.5-liter turbo-four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower, 320 lb-ft of torque, and makes an already sporty-looking and easy-to-handle SUV even more appealing. The latest version of this fun crossover is expected to be more prevalent in the USA, but Mazda sent us a Turbo version to get to know it.
New 2023 Mazda CX-30 Redesign
Mazda seems to have perfected the art of making cars that appeal to the masses. The New 2023 Mazda CX-30 is one such example. There are many sleek curves and prominent wheel arches to house 16-inch alloy wheels in the base trim and 18-inch versions on the rest. The large pentagonal grille dominates the front fascia. It is finished in matte for the 2.5 S trim and gloss black for the upper trims.
The grille is complemented by thin LED daytime running lights and Signature LED taillights. Select upwards adds rear privacy glass, while Preferred adds power-sliding moonroofs, and Premium has a power liftgate and roof rails. To advertise their more robust performance, the 2.5 Turbo trims may slightly differ from this design. Black is used on the 18-inch wheels and side mirrors. You will also find larger tailpipes with bespoke branding on the tailgate.
The New 2023 Mazda CX-30 is a cheaper subcompact. However, the more extensive interior has more space, better materials, and a more innovative design. It is easy to interact with the buttons and knobs, well-placed for the wide range of features. Mazda has chosen to keep the controls rotary, so drivers don’t get distracted by fussy touchscreen interactions. The tech improves as you go up the trim levels. However, even the base model has a good list of safety features and a pleasant sound system. With such entertainment, those in the back will find little to complain about and plenty of room.
New 2023 Mazda CX-30 Engine
The base engine of the New 2023 Mazda CX-30 is the same 2.5-liter four-pot that was debuted last year. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and produces 186 horsepower for the front wheels. For $1,400, every trim level can get the all-wheel drivetrain. The powertrain is capable and delivers smooth power, but the 2.5 Turbo will feel a little bland if it’s not driven first. The Turbo’s top-tier Turbo now has a 2.5L turbocharged four-pot. This gives it the power it deserved. It produces 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft when burning regular gasoline.
However, if you’re willing to pay a premium, this can be increased to 250 HP and 320 Lb-ft. Again, AWD is your only choice. The Mazda’s six-speed automatic transmission does the same job. Any complaints that Mazda buyers may have about its slow performance will soon be forgotten once you hear the engine rev up and push the compact car along the highway. This engine produces 310 lb-ft torque and loves low revs but can also run out of power at high speeds. The turbo mill is more of a diesel engine or luxury powertrain than a hot-hatch engine.
New 2023 Mazda CX-30 Release Date And Price
There have been minor updates to the standard features in the range. However, these changes did not impact the New 2023 Mazda CX-30’s price for the new year. The base price for the entry-level 2.5 S is $21,900. While the Select costs $23,900, it comes with a $23,900 option. The Preferred, now the mid-tier model, is available for purchase at $26,300. Premium goes up to $28,550.
You can add $1,400 to each of these models to get an all-wheel drivetrain. The all-new 2.5 Turbo already includes this option, available at a starting price of $29,000. You can upgrade to Turbo Premium for $2,400 or Premium Plus, the highest base price at $33,900. These MSRP numbers do not include tax and registration, licensing, or Mazda’s $1100 destination fee.
