New 2023 Mazda CX-5 Redesign, Interior, Release Date

New 2023 Mazda CX-5 Redesign, Interior, Release Date – The Compact SUV segment has been growing incredibly, and every automaker wants to be a part of it. Mazda first entered this segment in 2012 with its CX-5, but it has since gone upmarket and outperformed other mainstream automakers. You’ll feel like you’re in a luxury crossover as soon as you get into the New 2023 Mazda CX-5 Signature.

The CX-5 is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to cross-shop compact luxury SUVs but doesn’t want to spend too much. Mazda has been able to bring together the best parts of premium brands while keeping them affordable. Our 2023 CX-5 Signature test vehicle was even given to a neighbor who was looking for a replacement for her Audi Q5. She was amazed at how the Mazda matched the standards set by Lexus and Acura crossovers.

Exterior Design

Mazda’s Kodo: Soul of Motion design language is a success across various vehicles, from sports cars to crossovers and family hatches. This gives the CX-5 an unusual presence in a segment that otherwise seems dull. The CX-5’s range features LED headlights, daytime running lights, and DRLs. The Grand Touring model also has LED combination taillights/foglights. All models have dual chrome exhaust outlets as well as a body-colored roof spoiler. The wheel sizes vary depending on which trim you choose. Finishes and designs can also vary by model. For example, the Touring trim adds rear privacy glass, while the Signature model has model-specific badges.

The New 2023 Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover that measures 179.1 in length and has a body that extends over a 106.2-inch wheelbase. It measures 83.3 inches from mirror to mirror and 66.1 inches tall at the tip of the standard sharkfin antenna. Whether the ride height is front- or all-wheel-drive, there’s still 7.5 inches of ground clearance. This gives enough support for dirt roads but not enough to take on extensive off-road adventures. The CX-5 is moderately heavy for its class. It weighs between 3,541 lbs and 3,825 lbs, depending on the trim and drivetrain.

Interior Design

The New 2023 Mazda CX-5 bridges the gap between premium and commonality with the best cabin in its class, featuring five-person seating and various high-class materials. It also features a quality fit and finishes. The Mazda CX-5’s sound ergonomics and supportive seats mesh beautifully. In addition, signature trims and the Grand Touring Reserve, introduced in 2023, add new luxurious finishes such as other wood and chrome accents, ambient lighting, and brown leather.

Although it feels premium, the CX-5 is still very affordable. However, the CX-5 has some shortcomings. This rear passenger space and cargo volume are lower than the segment leaders, and the infotainment system seems dated, despite having Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mazda just introduced a new infotainment technology on the 2023 Mazda3. We hope it makes its way to the CX-5 soon.

New 2023 Mazda CX-5 Engine

Mazda offers three engine options for the New 2023 Mazda CX-5, depending on its trim. The base 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder, which has 187 horsepower and 186 pounds-feet of torque, is still available on the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims. The Signature and Grand Touring Reserve adorns the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine with 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft outputs. Later in 2023, Mazda will offer a Signature trim with a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft.

No matter which engine you choose, the only available transmission is a six-speed automatic gearbox. This sends power to the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims (AWD is optional). All-wheel drive is standard for turbo and diesel engines. The CX-5 has gone from being a well-designed crossover with little power to one capable of driving and looks excellent. This engine has so much torque that it rarely needs to rev higher to perform passing maneuvers. However, engine noise can still be an issue. Mazda could have added more sound deadening to the engine bay but chose not to do so due to financial constraints and the desire to be more sporty.
