New 2023 Mazda MX-5 Review, Specs, Release Date – The Mazda Miata is a legendary sports car. The New 2023 Mazda MX-5 has sold nearly as many lightweight roadsters in three decades as Porsche 911s in six decades. Can you name the most iconic sports car? The MX-5 Miata is now in its fourth iteration. It’s the lightest and most compact version since the original. When you first see the cheeky MiataRF, it’s difficult not to smile. The New 2023 Mazda MX-5 simple lines and compact proportions offer a refreshing breath of air in a world filled with excess. The RF (quick retractable back) adds an extra layer of appeal. With a touch of a button, the roof can be electronically lowered or raised in just 13 seconds. However, it is limited to speeds up to 6 mph. It can be presented or lowered and is an excellent alternative to the MX-5 soft-top. The exterior features include LED taillights and headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a subtle spoiler at the rear. The Grand Touring adds adaptive front-lighting to both trims.

The Miata RF’s compact dimensions make it easy to fit into tight spots or get into traffic gaps. The Miata RF measures just 154.1 inches in length and has a 90.9-inch wheelbase. It measures a mere 68.3 inches in width and a mere 49 inches high. The RF’s minimum ground clearance is 5.3 inches. Few sports cars are as light as the Mazda small-sized: The manual model is 2,453 lbs, while the automatic model is 2,493 lbs. Each model is just over 100 pounds heavier than its soft-top counterparts.

Interior Design

The 2023 Mazda MX-5 interiors are a step up from the previous model. The interior is solidly built and feels sturdy. A pleasing mixture of leather and trim colors brightens the space. The traditional analog dials and a centrally mounted tachometer are sporty touches, just like the Porsche 911. Unfortunately, there is not enough room for taller passengers. The lack of space for taller people than six feet two is likely to make it difficult. If you can fit in, you’ll love the sporty bucket seats as well as standard features such as heated seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration for Club models, and Bose surround-sound audio system.

However, the lack of storage in the cabin is something you won’t like. Although the MX-5 MiataRF is strictly a two-seater, there are some limitations. Taller people won’t fit. Comfortable driving is limited to 6’2″, with minimal adjustment (fore/aft sliding adjustment and thigh support only). Even with the roof closed, there is plenty of headroom. However, taller drivers may find their knees rubbing against the steering wheel. In addition, the interior is narrow, making it difficult for passengers and drivers with larger bodies to get in and out.

The Miata will continue into 2023 with a 2.0-liter four-pot naturally-aspirated engine that produces 181 horsepower and 151 lb-ft. In addition, modifications such as a new exhaust and improved intake ports, and a reduction in internal mass saw an increase of 26 horsepower. The Mazda revved to more than 7,000 rpm and maintained its deliciously sharp throttle response. However, our test vehicle was equipped with a six-speed automatic.

Although it revs faster, sounds better, and packs a punch, it doesn’t sound as inspiring as the MX-5s of years past. The turbochargers are absent, so you have to crank it up to 7,000 rpm to get the best out of it. Nevertheless, it’s addictive, the engine singing, the speed through corners, then the roaring engine, it’s an experience to be savored with the six-speed manual gearbox.

The automatic we tested did a terrible job of enjoying the engine’s work. The shift times are slow, and the automatic always responds too soon after tipping into corners. This can cause significant weight loss for a sensitive sports car. Although Sport mode is more responsive to downshifts than the others, it is only a band-aid to an injury site. In addition, the gearbox is too sloppy to enjoy genuinely.

The manual mode can be switched by using the paddles at the back of your steering wheel. The gearbox’s response times to inputs can be slow, and the gearbox will sometimes upshift when it shouldn’t. Nevertheless, the Miata RF manual is a much better vehicle than the automatic.

The Club trim starts at $33,045 and goes up to $34,425 for Grand Touring. The Prices do not include tax, licensing, or registration. The new Mazda MX-5 2023 has also announced a revised destination handling fee of $945 (up to $25) for all regions except Alaska. This is in addition to the $990 charge. Each trim comes with a manual transmission, but the automatic will be available on both the Club and Grand Touring models for $600 more.
